I have been thinking about what I would like for Valentines Day. My husband and I have been married twenty years. Maybe I am not as romantic as I was in my youth but, I would love a dog door that would fit my hugmongous arcadia door. It would make my life so much easier. I wouldn't turn away chocolate either LOL:) Also, a new set of weave poles would be fantastic but, I may need to save that request for Mother's Day.

It's a very special day today. It is my daughter, Lauren's, 16th birthday. The years have passed quickly. Each day with my daughter is a gift. She makes me laugh, broadens my perspective, and fills my heart with love. I have never been prouder of anything in my life then being her parent. Please help me in celebrating her special day.

I used a bunch of MelJen's images for my daughter's accordian style birthday card. Represented are "Cell Phone", "Girl Talk", "Make-Up Brush", "Nail Polish", "Girl Times" and "Baby Stork". I added lots of rhinestones, glitter, glitter glue and dimentionals. I participated in the Try it On Tuesday Challenge.

MelJen's Challenge, New Images!

MelJen's Challenge this week is to make a Thanksgiving themed card or a card that has a Thank You vibe. Thanksgiving images are always a challenge for me. I have not eaten turkey in over a decade of being a vegetarian and coloring a turkey always tests my memory. This turkey image called "Turkey Shooter" is perfect for the man in your life. This is a turkey that will not lay down and take it this Thanksgiving.

I colored my image with Copic markers. I used paper from K&Co, that I had in my stash and ribbon and cardstock from PTI. I added a sentiment, dimentionals, and some leaf brads. I participated in the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge for inspiration.

This year I am thankful for many things. For my wonderful daughter and husband. For the love of five furballs. I am infinately thankful that although I am still in pain that I have been able to return to many of my pre-injury activities, although modified. I went from riding a road bike to a recumbent. I am still able to participate in agility. Although, my sweet lab Maddie is retired due to age and Panda is retired due to some arthritis in her shoulders, my little rescue Pearl is shaping up to be a great agility dog. I am thankful also for the support of family and friends. Nature, whether it is in the plants, animals or just the sound of the flapping of bird wings has brought me hope and happiness. My ability to sew and quilt and craft brings me infinate satisfaction and fulfills my deep drive to be creative.

My Rainbow Quilt

When I was bedridden, waiting for back surgery, I saw a quilt pattern from Oh Frannson, called the paintbox quilt. I was so inspired by the colors, I wanted to modifiy it. It was my top project to complete after I recovered from back surgery. I used "Ta Da Dots" from Michael Miller and lots of Kona Cotton to make this Rainbow quilt. I also added a pieced back. A modification I made was to add borders. It really gave it a fun look. I added piano key quilting to the borders. On the back I made a super cool quilt label. I love this quilt. It is huge and helps me to remember to be hopeful. I could not post a picture without Pearl. She loves to model and made my quilt look even more fun lol:)

Crazy Dog Lady

Ok I admit it... I love dogs. However, I may have gone over to the dark side of becoming a crazy dog lady. I enjoy sewing. I make quilts and really enjoy the challenge of making bags. I do not share them, well, since I tend to be my worst critic and have never felt that what I have made would be enjoyed by others because I see all the mistakes. I made a couple of bags in the last couple of weeks and made a dog coat so that Pearl could match my bag. I know a little ecentric. However, I love it. I modified the patterns to add on a rufffle on the grey coat and to add on the ribbon detail on the floral coat. I wanted to share.
