Elisabeth Bell Challenge Blog

Elisabeth Bell has a new challenge blog called Elisabeth Bell's World. A challenge will post the 25th of each month and you can use any Elisabeth Bell image. The challenge this month is to create a card box that holds mini 3x3 cards.

This was quite a challenge for me. Although I love making boxes, for some reason I can never get the lid to fit just right. To make things more difficult I had to use fractions ugh.... After I figured out where 5/8 was on my cutter life improved dramatically:) My husband was out of town and my daughter was at school. I needed ot call a friend to help me with my math quandry. I used the adorable "A Tasty Read" digital image. This image is for sale at Elisabeth Bell's store. I made this image bigger than I would for a card. I really wanted it to be the focal point of my box. I colored her with Copic Markers to match the Pyrus design paper from Basic Grey I used in this project. To make boxes I love using PTI cardstock. This heavy paper helps my box keep it's shape and bears the weight of all the layering I do.

I used the sketch challenge at the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge. I love this sketch challenge. There is hardly a week I will miss. The sketches are always fabulous. I also was able to take part in the Basic Grey challenge of a project that represented Autumn or Harvest Time.

I made my box using the tutorial on the challenge blog. I added dimentionals, buttons and scalloping along the edges with my border punch. Inside the box are tiny cards with envelopes. These cards were inspired by the apple the image is holding. I made the die cuts with my cricut and added twine and a tag. I think they turned out super cute!
